Entry to the Collector’s Room is free, but top up to try a dram from your birth year, or one of these rare babies.

Glenmorangie 22 Year Old 1963 Pure Old Highland Malt
Street value
: ~$2,216
Taste it for $70/dram

Whisky aficionados say this is one of the hardest-to-find bottles by the Highland distillery. It spent 22 years in bourbon casks, and an additional year in Spanish Oloroso casks – and it’s only available by auction.

Laphroaig 17 Year Old 1989 Feis Ile The Friends of Laphroaig
Street value
: ~$795
Taste it for $40/dram

Bottled for Feis Ile – the annual festival of music and malt on Islay – in 2007, attendees of the event and bottle collectors report punchy peaty notes, with large helpings of brine and sea salt in the nose.

Karuizawa 30 Year Old #6432 – Taiwan
Street value: ~$5,574
Taste it for $120/dram

Made exclusively for the Taiwanese market, this alcohol-heavy drink is the product of a single ex-bourbon cask: #6432. Drinkers who’ve had the rare privilege of tasting this speak of its vanilla cake and crème de menthe flavours, and a finish of orange and lemon marmalade.

Bruichladdich 15 Year Old 1965 Charles and Diana Wedding
Street value
: ~$856
Taste it for $150/dram

Retro decanters of this liquid, celebrating Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s wedding, are still in circulation. Only 900 bottles were made and not much is known about the cask-strength peaty whisky, but we certainly can appreciate it for its novelty factor.

Whisky Live is at Capella Singapore on Nov 28 & 29.
