Here’s another reason for you to shop. This month, the third level of Takashimaya officially bid goodbye to Books Kinokuniya – don’t worry, you can still get your reading fix on level four – and opened up the space for 18 shiny new brands to muscle their way in. From apparel and accessories to dining options, the stores sit on the same floor next to existing ones like Pedder Red, Juicy Couture and PAUL.

Familiar labels and multi-brand retailers – which cover sportswear, jewellery, timepieces, bespoke menswear, trendy womenswear and shoes – include Anne Fontaine, BritishIndia, Castañer, FREYWILLE, Kiton, LaPrendo, lululemon athletica, REDValentino, SunTime Watch and Zadig & Voltaire. Plus, look out for three Japanese offerings: Ginza Kuroson (and its yet-to-open concept café), Big Mama, a concierge service that repairs clothes and leather goods, and the JTB travel agency.

But what we’re most excited about are the five new-to-Singapore names. ABC Cooking Studio from Japan features an open kitchen space where you can learn how to whip up dishes like seafood rice bowls, handmade udon noodles and mille crepes. If you’ve got a sweet tooth to satisfy, stop by the whimsical La Cure Gourmande to pick up a tin of chocolate truffles, madeleines, bonbons or cookies. Featured at Jap eyewear brand 999.9 are durable, lightweight, minimalistic designs. For a little glimpse of Paris, revel in the luxe basics of French brand American Vintage, or browse through the Paris-inspired racks of gorgeous accessories, bags and summery dresses at Rue Madame, which stocks European labels like Stella Forest, Essentiel and Tara Jarmon.
