It's been six years since Tanjong Beach Club – affectionately known as TBC – first replaced Sentosa’s beloved pop-up bar The Shack. Since then, TBC has proven itself a worthy successor with its laid-back vibe, buxom crowd and refined plates. Fast-forward to 2016 and the restaurant is changing up its food and drinks menu.
Inspired by coastal cuisine from around the world, chef Jason Jones introduces to the new all-day menu dishes such as Mediterranean-style barbecued octopus salad ($23) and snapper ceviche ($23) reminiscent of Mexico. For mains, opt for the lobster bun ($38): half a lobster cut into chunks, tossed in lime and avocado mayonnaise dressing, and served between lightly toasted burger buns. And of course, what's TBC without its breezy weekend brunches? Aside from the typical eggy offerings, there are a few waist-friendly options, like the chilled melon salad ($16) and acai bowl ($21).
The Lo and Behold Group's Bar Mentor, Julian Serna, is responsible for the new cocktail programme. Fresh, tropical flavours are the order of the day, with drinks like the Tanjong Spritz ($19), a citrusy, effervescent cocktail that will quench your thirst after a day spent flaunting – or checking out – that bikini bod.
