Though Dempsey Road is rapidly becoming hipster central, it still has the feel of a well-kept secret. The Wine Company is a case in point. Tucked away in an old army barracks surrounded by tropical vegetation, it has ambience by the bucketload. The interior is homely, but the open-air courtyard is the best spot. The emphasis is on South African tipple at low, by-the-bottle rates (the bar grew out of a small wine import shop). Offerings on the small changing menu range from cheese platters to steak dinners.
