The Tembusu Group (who are also behind other concept restaurants like Octapas and The Queen & Mangosteen) offers Asian-inspired bites and drinks to the Dempsey neighbourhood with this new 70-seat space outfitted with Chinoiserie touches like Chinese slide panels and a centrepiece display of 88 birdcages perched over the inside dining room. Drinks are similarly dressy, with opulence exemplified by the gold-flecked bottles of Royal Dragon’s Imperial Vodka ($288 for 750ml) aimed at the supercar set. For mere mortals, however, there’s a slimmer menu of ten classic cocktails like the lemongrass Tigerlily Pimms ($15), bespoke cocktails (from $18) and Asian bottled brews to pick from. For sustenance, pick the Singapore chilli crab dip with fried mantou buns ($12) – it’s friendly enough for more delicate palates – or the surprisingly juicy Bombay chicken mini burgers ($13). Drinks from $9, small bites from $4
