'The Bloom of Yesterday'

Already in its 21st edition, the German Film Festival (GFF) returns with screenings of more than 30 films by German filmmakers, which includes a varied genre of comedy, historical drama and art house. The programme spotlights on the global migration issue and the discourse over education systems.

Spread over two weekends, the film fest kicks off with director Valeska Grisebach's Western, a thrilling drama about a group of Germans working in rural Bulgaria who find themselves in dispute. Other festival highlights include rom-com The Bloom of Yesterday that depicts the unexpected romance between a holocaust researcher and his intern; and Welcome to Germany, a dramedy which follows a household in Munich who decides to take in a refugee from Africa.
