At the inaugural Singapore Myanmar Film Festival, five films (shortlisted from 30 entries) by Myanmar film producers (in Myanmar and worldwide) will be showcased to the theme 'behind closed doors'. The line-up features Bamboo Grove, about a naive young doctor moving from the city to the suburbs; Bungkus, which revolves around a young woman who is forced to move abroad to marry a man for money; Burmese Butterfly, a compelling look into the struggles of the gay community in Myanmar; My Grandfather's House, about the memories and nostalgic feelings that Thakin Htein Win's granddaughter experiences while visiting her childhood home; and The Old Photographer, a sweet story about a 90-year-old photographer. All films are in Burmese with English subtitles.
