Your kids may love exploring the great outdoors, watching telly or playing video games but there's nothing quite like the power of reading an amazing book. Allow them to stretch their minds and imagination as they learn more about the world – be it the realm of fantasy fairytales or fictional adventures that take them deep under the sea or up in the sky. Lucky for us, there are cool bookstores in town that stock plenty of reading material for kids of all ages.

From the same team as Woods in the Books, Books Ahoy! at Forum the Shopping Mall specialises in picture books – just like its sister outlet. Browse through its thoughtfully curated collection of classics, new releases, graphic novels, as well as niche titles that are hard to come by in Singapore. Aside from the usual favourites by Roald Dahl and Hergé, the store also carries books with a local flavour, such as Samsui Girl, Wayang Girl, Gasing Boy and Coolie Boys from local publisher, The History Workroom. With books lovingly displayed like artworks on shelves and walls, Books Ahoy! mirrors a mini-museum of children’s literature the young ones will be happy to explore.
