Time Out says

With a glowing glass façade inspired by stepwells that are commonly found in South Asia, the Indian Heritage Centre has a wealth of artefacts that are dotted around five galleries. They document and explore the history and culture of Indians, especially in relation to Singapore, all the way from the 1st century to the present day.

What’s on

Deepavali Open House 2025

The yearly Deepavali Open House returns to the Indian Heritage Centre, inviting everyone to soak in the sights, sounds and flavours of the Festival of Lights. This annual celebration is more than just an event – it’s a chance to step into the rich cultural traditions of the Indian community. One of the highlights is the Festive Market, which comes alive on Saturdays and Sundays. Browse the various stalls selling artisanal bakes, authentic Indian snacks, handcrafted jewellery and vibrant ethnic wear – perfect for anyone looking to refresh their Deepavali wardrobe. Get hands-on and join one of the many DIY workshops where you can craft your own keepsakes, from delicate clay lotus hanging ornaments to floral tealight holders and more. The event is also about immersing yourself in the culture. Step into a traditional Indian outfit at the dress-up booth, adorn yourself with a fragrant garland, and have intricate henna art painted onto your hands for free. The festivities spill outdoors with a line-up of cultural performances under the stars. Foodies can look forward to sampling familiar festive favourites too, including crunchy murukku, iced rose syrup, masala chai and more.
