A Dream of Red Mansions
Ballet enthusiasts, this one’s for you. The internationally acclaimed National Ballet of China arrives in Singapore this March as part of its Asia tour, presenting A Dream of Red Mansions – a two-act production that marries classical Western ballet technique with refined Chinese aesthetics.
Running for two hours, the ballet traces the tender, ill-fated romance between Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu. Dreamlike sequences involving skillful choreography, immersive music, and exquisitely detailed costumes capture the giddy innocence of first love before giving way to the ache of separation, rendered with a bittersweet beauty.
