January 9: Disney legend and award-winning songstress Lea Salonga takes over the Esplanade Concert Hall this coming March. The Filipina singer and actress is best known for her Tony-Award winning role in Miss Saigon. She's also lent her voice to the singing vocals for Princess Jasmine and Mulan, crooning all-time favourites like A Whole New World and Reflection. And she's the first Asian to play Eponine in the musical Les Misérables on Broadway and returned to the show as Fantine in the 2006 revival.
In addition to the Tony, she has won Olivier, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Theatre World Awards. Most recently, Lea starred in the Broadway revival of Once on This Island as the Goddess of Love, Erzulie, and also made an appearance as a judge on The Philippines' hit version of The Voice.
Lea returns to Singapore after her sensational performance of Mrs Lovett in the staging of the musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street last November. For this concert, she's performing songs from Broadway musicals and film music, as well as a few notable Disney favourites with a full band and an 11-piece string ensemble. Spend an evening (or afternoon) with Salonga as she serenades you at the Esplanade Concert Hall. Book your tickets here.
