Time Out says

Fill your homes with the majestic sounds of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, as the classical music ensemble opens its 2020/21 season with an online concert on 11 July – the same day that was initially scheduled for its physical stage performance at the Victoria Concert Hall. The concert is set to stream live on the newly launched Sistic Live platform at 7.30pm.

The concert kicks off with a welcome message from SSO's Chairman Goh Yew Lin and Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu before handing the virtual mic over to the orchestra's new chief conductor Hans Graf. The opening number is a digital premiere of Hans Graf conducting the SSO in Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony, filmed live at the Esplanade Concert Hall at the start of the year. This is then followed by an exclusive home recording of the second movement from Bach's Double Violin Concerto with two star violinists Karen Gomyo and Chloe Chua.

Just at 13 years old, the young violinist Chloe Chua has achieved a meteoric rise in the classical music scene – she was awarded the joint First Prize at the 2018 Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists, and bagged the top prize at the 24th Andrea Postacchini Violin Competition.

Tokyo-born, Berlin-based violinist Karen Gomyo started her musical journey in Montréal and New York, before taking over the world with the captivating sounds of her trusty violin. She has performed with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. This marks her debut with SSO.

Join Hans Graf, Chloe Chua, Karen Gomyo, and SSO as they sweep you off your couch with their enthralling renditions of Tchaikovsky’s Sixth Symphony, and Bach's Double Violin Concerto in the SSO 2020/21 Season Opening Concert. Registration is required prior to viewing the event, but tickets are on a pay-as-you-wish basis at $0, $10, $20, $30, $50, and above.
