For music lovers out there, listen up. #savemusicsg has launched a 24-hour stream event, The Home Stream, this coming weekend featuring sick beats from the city’s top selectors. Hosted together with Mandala, Rumours Beach Club, Kult Kafe, Skyline Bar and Rebel Decibel Warehouse, the event is inspired by Singapore's once vibrant music scene and aims to get the conversation going between the authorities and the nightlife scene.
It has been two years – and counting – since the pandemic hit and that pretty much left Singapore’s live music scene non-existent. Clubs, F&B outlets, lounges and other entertainment venues were left to crumble, and the gigs dried up. Although those who were impacted did receive aid from the government to keep afloat, DJs and performers, who relied on events and live performances for their bread and butter, struggled to make ends meet.
According to #savemusicsg, “The live music industry has gone silent since the nation first went into lockdown in March 2020. Beyond the economic impact, this has left a void in an industry driven largely by passion, within a nation that believes that passion makes anything possible.”

Only recently, the authorities welcomed music back to F&B establishments, and live performances can be carried out - only if the performers are fully vaccinated or basically, went through the necessary checks. To amplify the voice of need for a much vibrant culture and scene - not just for the DJs, but to those that suffered when the shutdown happened - #savemusicsg brings a 24-hour livestream of DJs from various venues and establishments in Singapore. Look forward to acts by Kevin Sy, Jeremy Boon, The Weatherman, Adrian Wee, Matty Wainwright, Zafirah, James Selva, Zig Zach and many others.
Gather your friends and tune in this weekend to The Home Stream, featuring your favourite local DJs performing across locations all around the island and be reminded of the importance of music in our lives.
