War Requiem (SSO)

War Requiem (SSO)
Late UK composer Benjamin Britten’s massive War Requiem is widely considered to be one of the most challenging orchestral pieces to perform. Steven Ang takes a look at how the SSO plans to pull it off

This twentieth century gem – which requires two orchestras, two choirs and three soloists, will be performed by the SSO in commemoration of Benjamin Britten’s 100th birthday anniversary. Conducted by Lan Shui and Lim Yau, the recital features the setting of nine poems by poet Wilfred Owen, who was known for his anti-war views.
