If you need something to pass the time with while camping for NDP fireworks, how ‘bout creating a cute cartoon version of yourself? To celebrate Singapore’s 60th birthday, homegrown advertising agency DSTNCT has come up with digital avatar generator SGMoji – think Bitmoji or Memoji, but with a local twist. It’s completely free, with no sign-ups required.

As with most other avatar creation programmes, SGMoji will have you selecting from a range of physical attributes like face shape, skin tone, facial features and hair. Things get extra fun in the fashion department, where you can dress your cartoonised self up in uniquely Singaporean outfits, including a Merlion onesie, traditional garb like a sari or cheongsam, the Singapore Girl kebaya, and even school uniforms.

Most chuckle-worthy are the accessories, which range from trays of local delicacies to a blind box and tissue packet for chope-ing of seats. There’s even the Zouk signboard for the party animals. We love that there’s also a section specially for aids like a guide dog, prosthetics and personal mobility devices – 10 points for inclusivity.

Finish things off with familiar local backdrops, including a HDB void deck, Changi Airport, or the Padang in full National Day fanfare. At the end, submit a birthday wish for Singapore and share your Singapore dream, and your completed avatar will be added to an interactive map where you can check out other users’ creations.

You’ll also get to download a sticker pack for WhatsApp and Telegram featuring your own avatar.
