Welcome to Da Bao Diaries, a daily column dedicated to what Time Out Singapore's editors are eating and drinking while Singapore's 'circuit breaker' measures are in place till June 1. Da bao is a Singaporean colloquialism derived from Mandarin that refers to having a meal to go instead of dining in at an establishment.

Communal meals with friends or with extended family may not be allowed these days, but that doesn't mean you can't turn to the familiar comfort food that often makes an appearance at these meals. Specifically, the classic roast chicken with all the bells and whistles. And if you don't want the fuss of kitchen prep, worrying if you've overcooked the breast and cleaning up after then this roast chicken spread from Capella Singapore is the perfect solution.

If you have a small household, Capella offers a roasted chicken meal for two ($90). The herb and garlic infused chook is the main feature, but you also get roasted potatoes, glazed carrots with cumin seeds, sautéed mushrooms and chicken jus for an extra flavour boost. You don't have to worry about the chicken being too dry or cold from delivery because everything is packed neatly in insulated bags to retain heat.

To complete the experience, the package also includes hearty tomato soup, whole wheat cheese rolls, paprika cheese bread straws, a mesclun salad with balsamic dressing and the best part, dessert. The warm bread and butter pudding with vanilla custard is a sweet and satisfying end to a comforting meal. All you really have to do is plate up the meal and have a Zoom sesh with the rest of the fam to make it feel like any other big weekend feast. It's just a shame they can't try that bread and butter pudding though – we definitely like it too much to share.
