There’s more to the scenic hill of Mount Faber than cable car rides and scenic views.

Come weekends, the hilltop destination will launch a special Gai Gai Tour, a two-hour walking adventure that will showcase Mount Faber in a new light. Start the tour with a complimentary cable car ride up to the peak, then embark on a fully guided tour around the hill’s lesser-known, heritage-rich hotspots – all set around lush greenery.

First, head over to the Mural Wall – some 16 different copper-tooled murals that depict Singapore’s journey from a humble fishing village to today’s sprawling metropolis. Did you know that there is another Merlion on Mount Faber? Pay a visit to this national icon, flanked by greenery, and learn more about how this mystical creature came to be. Of course, no trip up this hill will be complete without making a pitstop at the peak. Take in the panoramic views of the city, with Keppel Harbour and the Southern islands splayed right before your eyes.

Lovebirds can also look forward to visiting Poland’s Bells of Happiness. These commemorative bells were gifted by Poland to Singapore as a symbol of diplomatic relations between both countries, and now, it is widely believed that those who ring them can enjoy everlasting bliss and joy. And to cap off the trip, the tour will bring you on a behind-the-scenes look at Mount Faber Station. Find out what it takes to keep the cable cars running – from operations and maintenance – before hopping on it one last time to soak in the aerial views of the Harbourfront district and Sentosa island.

HOW TO BOOK Head over to onefabergroup.com/gaigai. Tickets start from $20 for adults and $15 for children, with two tour timings, 10am and 2pm, running every Saturday and Sunday. Each tour comes with a two-hour guided tour around Mount Faber, conducted in English, as well as a round-trip cable car ride on the Mount Faber line.
