Looking for ways to support our local hawkers? The most straightforward way is to purchase takeout or get their food delivered to your door. But even then, you end up travelling out of your way or encountering a minimum order requirement and expensive delivery fees. A group of hawkers around Bukit Batok has come together to provide an alternative – all you have to do is assemble your very own kueh gift box.

Here's how it works: choose from the menu across multiple stores – which includes Jin Xing Handmade Kuehs, Wei Xin Food, Hong Ho Phang Tim Sum, and Han & Han Peanut Pancake – and put together a sweet line-up of handmade local treats. There’s no minimum order or multiple delivery fees, which means that every gift box ordered plays a small part to help the hawkers stay in business during this period. It's a convenient – and tasty – way to help support multiple hawkers at once.

Depending on what you’re in the mood for, a box can come stuffed with soon kueh, png kueh, char siew pau, and more. Prices start from $48.80, and includes islandwide delivery. You can also choose to include a message for the intended recipient if you're ordering for friends and family.

This convenient service is part of local start-up Rave Eats' initiative to help raise awareness for small food and beverage businesses during this challenging period. Beyond the kueh gift set, the website also curates the best eats from Bukit Batok for easy enjoyment – from pre-curated kueh boxes (from $38.80) to freshly fried vadai (from $5.40) from Kasim Indian Muslim Food.
