Think of a more fun version of golf, Holey Moley is the new social place, and Singapore's first mini golf arena in town where you can drink, feast and also enjoy a competitive (or not) game of mini golf. And if your idea of golf is green fields, stuffy outfits and a sense of privilege then it's good to know that mini golf has none of these trappings.
First opened in Brisbane in 2016, Holey Moley is a whimsical mini-golf course, cocktail bar and also restaurant, great for large groups of people. Not much has changed at the Singapore branch at Clarke Quay – they have set up shop on the former grounds of Shanghai Dolly – bringing to our city the same wacky vibes that proved to be successful in Australia.
The space spans over two floors and and features 27 holes. Here's the fun part: Each hole pays homage to a range of pop culture references - from TV shows like Game of Thrones and The Simpsons to classic childhood films like E.T., Back To The Future and Jaws. There's also a nod to nostalgic games like Monopoly and Pac Man. To add in some local flavour, the putting hole ‘Upside Down’ will take on all the deliciousness of a hawker centre dinner, with a literal twist. Don’t forget to look up! Play on more holes and you'll also discover a model of Marina bay Sands being attacked by Godzilla.
After a good round, fellow golfers can also look forward to the huge menu at Holey Moley. We're talking 1-metre long pizzas, a 2 pound beef patty and pulled beef brisket Monster Gold Burger (yup, the bun is gold), assorted shoestring fries. There's also the crazy cocktails which look like milkshakes such as Electric Blue (blue curacao, Ketel One Citron, Don Julio Blanco Tequila, Cointreau and fresh lemon juice), Shark Tanq (Tanqueray Gin, blue curacao, coconut syrup shaken with pineapple juice and egg white) and Fresh As A Birdie (elderflower liqueur, fresh watermelon and lime juice).
