If your idea of a good night involves cocktails, cabaret and delicious food, then great news: Lulu’s Lounge is officially back in business. This time, the nightlife destination has set up shop at 208 South Bridge Road, taking over a heritage shophouse within Terra Southbridge Hotel after leaving its former home at Pan Pacific Singapore.
Its new Chinatown outpost is a fresh take on Lulu’s rather than a recreation of its former home at Pan Pacific Singapore. Threaded Creatives and Bernard Johnson, who worked on the original 2017 venue, return for the interiors, giving the space its own character while keeping Lulu’s theatrical DNA intact.
That character comes through in the 1930s Shanghai-inspired design, where jade shades meet lacquered details, mirrored surfaces and plush velvet booths. The overall effect is suitably decadent – think old-world glamour and late-night cabaret.
Drinks-wise – its cocktail menu has reworked familiar favourites with Chinese ingredients, including the Jasmine Tea Martini and Osmanthus and Baijiu Sour, alongside flavours such as Buddha’s Hand, long pepper and dark soy syrup. There’s a non-alcoholic selection for those sitting this one out, too.
On the other hand, the food menu leans into Shanghai-inspired dim sum and small plates, such as oscietra caviar siu mai, Hong Kong prawn toast, crispy-skin chicken, crispy aromatic duck pancakes and mala grilled fish skewers.
Apart from food, entertainment is also very much part of the offering. From Wednesday to Sunday, Lulu’s Lounge shifts gears throughout the night, with jazz, DJ sets and a rotating lineup of cabaret, burlesque and drag. Zouk veterans Jeremy Boon and Aldrin will take over the decks on Wednesdays and Fridays, while Thursday’s Oui Oui Cherie, Saturday’s Cafe Bizarre and Sunday’s Encore each bring their own flavour. And the best part? There’s no cover charge on regular nights, except for special events.
