Singapore's yearly National Day Parade (NDP) is always spectacular. To pull off such a large-scale event takes tons of practice, which is why the NDP show typically has a couple of rehearsal days (which, conveniently, are open to students and select members of the public). As it happens, there are two upcoming rehearsals on June 15 and 22. Even if you're not involved with these shows, there's a chance that you'll be affected by the planned road closure and public transport diversions.

In a Facebook post, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) publicised a list of roads around Padang that will be closed to vehicular traffic during stipulated times on June 15 and 22. Only authorised, police, and emergency vehicles will be allowed, so it's best if you avoid driving altogether and take public transport to these locations. If you have to take the car, then look out for police officers, auxiliary police officers, security officers, and Singapore Armed Forces marshals for assistance.

Unsurprisingly, the road closures will have a knock-on effect. Expect traffic delays along Beach Road, Bras Basah Road, Collyer Quay, and many more – all the full details are in the SPF post below. Those heading to Suntec City and Marina Square from Bras Basah Road, Esplanade Drive or Nicoll Highway would also do best to take an alternative route via Bayfront Avenue or Rochor Road leading to Temasek Boulevard.

Some bus services will also be skipping stops around the Civic District on the two Combined Rehearsal dates. For all the affected bus services, check SMRT and SBS Transit
