It’s not just any chicken sandwich. This juicy stack from Popeyes caused quite a buzz when it first launched in the USA last year in August.

And from September 16 to October 14, you'll be able to have a taste of a famed chicken sandwich when it becomes available at Popeyes outlets in Singapore.

Exactly how big of a deal was the chicken sandwich? Consider this: the fast-food chain sold out of the burger country-wide in the US just two weeks after its initial release.

According to CNN, the humble stack was a huge driving force in helping the company boost revenue, with sales jumping some 42 percent in the last three months of 2019 compared to the same period a year before. And among those drawn to the allure of Popeyes’ chicken sandwich include celebrities Tamar Braxton, Serena Williams, and Cardi B.

The sandwich might sound deceptively simple – battered chicken thigh, marinated for some 12 hours, slathered with a spicy secret sauce, layered with pickles, then served between toasted brioche bun – but it’s a winning formula that sent Americans into a fever pitch.

Closer to home, the chicken sandwich comes as part of a meal, with Cajun fries and Pepsi for $7.90. We managed to sneak a taste test ahead of its launch, and we have to say: it's indeed a well-constructed chicken burger. The patty is substantially thick and crispy, and the creamy secret sauce packs a punch.

But unlike what happened in America, we don't have to spend hours standing in line for this chicken sandwich. Those looking to jump the queues can sample the creation via Popeyes' delivery – the Sandwich Solo Meal ($10.90) comes with a chicken sandwich, fried mushrooms, mashed potatoes, and Pepsi. Do note that only limited quantities are available daily at each outlet.
