It's International Nurses Day today (May 12), and Qatar Airways has announced that it is giving away complimentary roundtrip airline tickets for 100,000 healthcare workers across the globe. In doing so, the airline aims to thank those who have been putting themselves on the frontline while protecting their communities during these times.

Healthcare professionals (including doctors, medical practitioners, nurses, lab technicians, clinical researchers and pharmacists) from every country in the world are eligible to win a pair of tickets. Each country is given a daily allocation of tickets based on the overall population size.

Those selected can book up to two complimentary economy class roundtrip tickets to any destination the airline flies. The selected healthcare professionals will also receive a 35 percent discount to any Qatar Duty-Free retail outlets at the airline's hub at the Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Doha.

Those selected have until November 26 to book their trip, with the option to redeem their flight immediately. However, given the current uncertainty surrounding global travel, the complimentary flights are fully flexible for both destinations and dates.

So if you're a frontline professional, here's your chance to give yourself a well-deserved break once all of this is over. Those eligible can apply directly on the Qatar Airways website starting at 5.01am SGT on May 12 through 4.59am SGT on May 19. The winners will be announced on the following day.

For the rest of us, it's never too early to start travel planning. We're leading the conversation with our travel destinations for when it's safe to travel again
