We bade goodbye to Jetstar Asia in July, and along with that saw the demise of a handful of flight routes from Singapore – some of which weren’t even offered by other airlines. But Singapore Airlines’ low-cost sister brand Scoot has since stepped in to fill the gap, with the launch of three new flight routes to Okinawa, Tokyo (Haneda), and Chiang Rai.
Like Jetstar’s previous flights to Okinawa, Scoot’s flights to the island paradise in Japan are direct, with a duration of just five hours – thus saving travellers a good deal of time and energy spent on doing a connecting flight.
Japanophiles will be thrilled to hear that the new flights to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport will run on a daily basis starting from March, just in time for the sakura season. Scoot currently offers flights to Tokyo’s Narita airport, but those who’ve been to both airports will tell you that Haneda Airport is the superior one with more facilities, dining, and entertainment options. It’s also closer to the city centre than Narita is.
Those who are looking for new weekend getaways can now also consider Chiang Rai in Thailand – a less crowded alternative to the usual Bangkok. With this quick three-hour journey, Scoot once again eradicates the need for a layover, which nicely cuts down one’s total travel time by around four hours.
Launch dates for Scoot’s new flight routes:
- Singapore to Okinawa: December 15, 2025
- Singapore to Chiang Rai: From January 1, 2026
- Singapore to Tokyo (Haneda): From March 1, 2026
Prices for Scoot’s one-way flights to Chiang Rai start from $128, while the ones to Okinawa and Tokyo (Haneda) start from $190 – inclusive of taxes, but excluding baggage fees, meals, and other add-ons.
Reservations for all three flight routes are already open. Find out more and make your booking via Scoot’s website.
