Now, the experience takes a bold next step: the storied music retailer has launched Southeast Asia’s first vinyl lending library, inviting you to borrow records and experience music from the comfort of your home.
Dubbed the Swee Lee Vinyl Library, the initiative is all about slowing down and truly listening. The all-new library is an in-store experience powered by the free VMI Connect App, which is available on iOS and Android. Members can borrow up to three records at a time from Swee Lee’s Clarke Quay and Star Vista stores, with no fixed loan period, late fees or renewal worries. Simply pick an album, take it home and savour every groove at your own pace.
The collections are impressively broad, with roughly 500 records at Clarke Quay and 250 at Star Vista. Pop, rock, jazz, blues, soul, electronic, world music – they’ve got it all. You’ll stumble across classics like The Beatles, Bowie, and Miles Davis, alongside contemporary favourites such as Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar. Local and regional music is also being curated, so you never know what hidden gems might end up on your turntable.
Prefer to ease into your music adventure before taking a record home? The library also offers in-store listening stations, where you can preview selections in professional-grade private audio spaces. Members get up to 12 hours of listening station access per month at selected locations.
VMI Connect Insider membership starts at $29 per month, which also gives you instant access to events, in-store offers, community updates and insider exclusives, such as up to 15 percent off in-house and partner cafés, with regular complimentary menu items. Higher-tier perks include priority invites to masterclasses, album launches and more. All other VMI Connect members can book curated private sessions to shop and experience rare and collectable instruments, guided by Swee Lee’s experts.
