It's that time of year again when travel booking platform Skyscanner unveils its annual travel trends report – and you can bet we're paying attention. Besides revealing traveller habits that are shaping where we're all jet-setting off to, it also reveals lists of best-value destinations and trending destinations for the year ahead. Because hey, it's never too early to start planning our getaways for 2026.

We're pulling out Skyscanner's list of best-value destinations here for those who have affordability top of mind. These are the holiday spots that have seen the biggest year-on-year drop in flight prices, thanks in large part to new direct flights and increased flight frequencies (yay to more convenience, too).

It's a pleasure to see beloved destinations like Seoul, Osaka, and London on the list, but if you're feeling adventurous, try slightly under-the-radar spots like Haikou, China or Colombo, Sri Lanka. The first is known for its gorgeous historic lanes and geological wonders; the latter is a gateway to gorgeous tea plantations and idyllic beaches in Sri Lanka. Those looking to go further off the beaten path should check out Skyscanner's trending destinations for emerging (but not yet overcrowded) spots.

Best-value destinations in 2026, according to Skyscanner:

  1. Haikou, China
  2. Seoul, South Korea
  3. Fukuoka, Japan
  4. Jakarta, Indonesia
  5. Osaka, Japan
  6. Shenzhen, China
  7. Taipei, Taiwan
  8. Sapporo, Japan
  9. London, United Kingdom
  10. Colombo, Sri Lanka

Getting a bang for your buck aside, what are the top trends driving travel? Skyscanner has sussed out 10 based on its proprietary data and a survey of over 200,000 individuals worldwide (including 1,000 Singaporeans). Here's some of the most relatable:

  • Glowmads: Travelling for that glow-up – 51% of Singaporeans book a flight with the intention of shopping for local skincare and beauty products
  • Shelf Discovery: Raise your hand if you have to visit a supermarket when overseas. 42% of Singaporeans surveyed would.
  • Family Miles: It's all about making memories with family. 38% of Singaporeans will travel with family, even in large, multi-generational groups.
  • Catching Flights and Feelings: We all crave connection, and 38% would cross the ocean specifically to meet new people.

From travelling to visit gorgeous bookstores to snagging a stay in a dream hotel, travellers are getting savvier about living their best lives overseas. Check out the full trend report and get tips about how to discover destinations and book trips more smartly here
