Another day, another F&B closure, so it seems in Singapore these days. The latest victim? The Privé Group.

Privé is known for its Western nosh served in al fresco or semi-open settings, usually spruced up with plants for a laidback garden vibe. At one point, there were Privé restaurants at CHIJMES and Jewel Changi’s Canopy Park – both of which were highly popular but have since shuttered. Some of its final remaining venues include a seafront space at Keppel Bay and open-air outlet at Wheelock.

Unfortunately, there won’t be the chance to enjoy a last meal there, as the group’s entire fleet of Privé outlets has shut with immediate effect as of August 31, 2025. Privé’s website is no longer functional and the Google listings for all its branches are already marked as permanently closed.

A small silver lining is that Empress, Privé’s Chinese restaurant at the Asian Civilisations Museum (ACM), which is also a popular venue for weddings, will continue to operate as normal under a different parent company, Commonwealth Concepts. According to an announcement on Empress’ Instagram page, Empress remains open to guests, be it museum visitors or the general public.

Commonwealth Concepts also handles other popular food brands in Singapore including in-house dining concepts at various hotels, The Marmalade Pantry, Bedrock, Kinki, and PastaMania.

It’s not all doom and gloom in Singapore’s dining scene. There are also plenty of new homegrown F&B spots to hit up and support, including a whole bunch of charming neighbourhood cafés with bakes and brews; Ling Ling Cha, a Taiwanese tea café hidden away in a Marina skyscraper; and a chill late-night bistro with Bali beach club vibes.
