A multi-year extension was agreed between Formula 1 (F1), Singapore GP Pte Ltd (SGP) and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) for the Singapore Grand Prix to continue to be held until 2028. The event is also set to return this year from Sep 30 to Oct 3 after a two-year hiatus due to Covid-19.

The Marina Bay Circuit is a special one for the fans – it hosted the first night race in F1 history in 2008. On top of the races and cheering on the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo and more, the Grand Prix is also one for the music fans. Over the years we've seen the likes of Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Ariana Grande, The Chainsmokers, Dua Lipa, Justin Bieber, Swedish House Mafia, Muse and more performing at multiple stages across the city.

To keep up with the times, sustainability will feature prominently in future races and STB and SGP are aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of the Singapore race as part of a transition to more sustainable business models and to be in line with the sustainability goals of F1. This includes ramping up recycling efforts and using sustainable materials to reduce the carbon emissions of the event.

The new season of F1 is slated to start in March and Singapore will be one of the stops of the 23-race season. Why is this big news for us this year? Singapore GP's Chairman Mr Ong Beng said in a press release: "We are very pleased that the night race will continue for seven more years. After more than a decade of celebrating this spectacular event on the racing calendar, we are looking forward to building on its success and working with Formula 1 as well as its partners to take the night race to greater heights. We are delighted that this marquee event will demonstrate how Singapore is open for business."
