When it comes to hotels, eye-pleasing interiors are just as important as great service and amenities, because the design of a space can easily influence one’s mood and energy levels. And at the ninth edition of the Society of Interior Designers Singapore (SIDS) awards held on November 24, 2025, one new entrant in the Orchard area bags not one but two awards for its stunning interior design. This hotel is none other than The Standard, Singapore – a boutique hotel with Hollywood roots and art around every corner.
Conceptualised by homegrown interior design firm Ministry of Design, The Standard, Singapore’s design is distinctly eclectic, which offers a breath of fresh air against other hotels in Orchard that are less bold in aesthetic. Under the ‘Luminaries’ category, the stylish hotel scores Gold for ‘Best in Hospitality Design – Hotel Communal Spaces’, and this refers to the lobby lounge which also houses Café Standard and its bar. Other than a transparent check-in counter that shows off a terrarium within, the casual space is also decorated with a hodgepodge of animal sculptures and art books.
Meanwhile, in-house restaurant Kaya at The Standard bags the Silver award under ‘Best in F&B Design - Restaurants’, and we couldn’t agree more with the selection. Sporting a tropical theme with botanical wallpaper and plants draping from the ceiling, this izakaya-inspired restaurant-bar is as elegant as it gets.
