As funnyman Kumar gears up for his fabulous (and mighty pink) birthday bash Kumar50 happening at Capitol Theatre from February 28 to March 11, we take a peek into the comedian’s glamorous wardrobe and ask the OG local drag queen to pick five of his favourite stage outfits from his past shows.

1. Stripped Bare and Standing Up (2009)

This bedazzled maxi from his show Stripped Bare and Standing Up puts beauty queens to shame. He admits: “Miss Universe contestants have got nothing on me while I’m in this outfit.”

2. Kumar’s Amazing Race (2011)

“I’ve always liked shiny disco balls,” says Kumar. Well, this sparkly silver number he donned during his 2011 performance of Kumar’s Amazing Race made sure he shined brighter than any other disco ball out there.

3. What Makes a Man a Man (2013)

Who could steal Kumar’s limelight during 2013’s What Makes a Man a Man when he wore this flamboyant white ensemble? “I looked so much better than the people behind me did,” he claims.

4 & 5. Kumar Stands Up for Singapore (2015)

Step aside Candice Swanepoel, Adriana Lima and Lily Aldridge – in 2015’s Kumar Stands Up for Singapore, which ran for five days at the Esplanade, Kumar worked a pair of white angel wings with a long satin gown like a true runway model. He says: “Who doesn’t like angel wings anyway?” We couldn't agree more.

Another outfit worn during his 2015 show was a bold red traditional sari outfit – a homage to his Indian heritage – that was embellished with gold beads. “Sari but I’m not sari,” he retorts. Indeed. #Slay.
