A bookstore, event and café space all in one, The Moon aims to create a cosy, comfortable and creative space for the community to come together and take a moment away from real life. With the tall oak-brown bookshelves lining the side of the wall and lots of plants around the store, stepping into new cool space The Moon on Mosque Street feels like stumbling into a secret room of sorts – away from the bustle of Chinatown.

Featuring a curated collection of reads, from a wall of children books and limited edition hard covers like Star Trek and Sherlock Holmes, to modern literature, colourful-illustrated cookbooks and interesting thought-provoking non-fiction titles, there is for certain something for everyone. Something you ought to know about the collection is that at least half of the titles here are written by female authors, in support of diversity and being inclusive of every individual.

Have a look around the shelves and pick out your choice of read before heading up to the third floor to find a cosy reading space, with lots of natural lights through the windows as well as a string of fairy lights hanging across the ceiling, creating the ideal spot for a mid-afternoon read and tea break.

The Moon

Time comes to a standstill here in the reading room as you stretch out your legs across the plush cushions and dive into your book. An eclectic space with wall hanging plants, giant plush cushions, thick rugs and sofas sprawled out across the floor, the warm lighting reflects off the parquet floor panels, wood furniture and warm-coloured plush cushions to create a homey space perfect for reading for hours.

If you ever start to feel hungry halfway through your book, head on downstairs and try a slice of their vegan, gluten-free and raw coconut lime cheesecake with a cup of coffee to perk up your afternoon – or a cup of Haldi Doodh if you're night reader.

Come see the space for yourself on September 21 at 37 Mosque Street as The Moon opens up for some festivities through the night. With music, tarot card reading, on the spot poetry writing and more, think of it as a cosy party for bookworms.
