The restored film in full HD will be screened with a live performance of its unforgettable score led by Singaporean conductor Joshua Tan

More than 25 years after Wong Kar Wai's masterpiece first broke hearts, one of cinema's greatest love stories is returning to Singapore. In the Mood for Love In Concert arrives at Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands on October 24 and 25, 2026, pairing the restored film in full HD with a live performance of its unforgettable score by the Base Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Singapore's internationally acclaimed Joshua Tan.
First released in 2000, In the Mood for Love follows neighbours Chow Mo-wan (Tony Leung) and Su Li-zhen (Maggie Cheung), who discover their spouses are having an affair. As they grapple with betrayal, loneliness and everything left unsaid, the pair slowly forge a connection of their own.
The film is often hailed as one of the most beautiful ever made, and though it has been over two decades since its release, it still remains a favourite through revival screenings and artistic tributes.
Once described by Wong Kar Wai as "a poem itself", the soundtrack is penned by Japanese composer and former rock star Shigeru Umebayashi, best known for Curse of the Golden Flower and the unforgettable "Yumeji's Theme". For the Singapore show, the music will be performed live from start to finish.
Leading the performance is Joshua Tan, one of Singapore's most celebrated conductors. A graduate of The Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music, Tan has worked across symphonic, opera, ballet, film, and multimedia productions and has conducted internationally with ensembles including the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Tickets to In The Mood For Love In Concert are now on sale here.
