Passportless QR code immigration clearance aside, trips to Johor Bahru just got another breezy upgrade – for those who don’t mind splashing out for comfort, that is. If the newly launched Singapore-JB bus routes are not your cup of tea, perhaps you’d like to zip across the border with a cushy cab ride instead.
Come September 25, 2025, local taxi company ComfortDelGro is launching its private car charter bookings with fixed rates – no need to constantly watch the meter or deal with price hikes related to peak timing or rainy weather. The catch is that the only designated drop-off point in JB is Larkin Sentral Terminal, so you won’t be able to depart at, say, your favourite café at Mount Austin.
Larkin Sentral is slightly further north from the checkpoint, but this gives you a good chance to explore somewhere other than the usual City Square Mall. Besides, an affordable local Grab ride will easily get you to wherever else you might want to be.
Fixed price rates for ComfortDelGro’s Singapore-JB taxi services:
- From Ban San Street taxi stand at Rochor: $60
- Doorstep: $80
- From Changi Airport: $120
You’ll have to go old-school by calling ComfortDelGro’s hotline at 65521111 – no app bookings are available for these cross-border taxis at the moment. Calls can be immediate (do factor in some waiting time), or made up to 24 hours in advance.
