Don't let the majestic façade of Riverhouse at CQ @ Clarke Quay fool you. Housed in this 155-year-old conservation mansion that once served as a Chinese secret society HQ, PULSE is an electric music venue where world-class sound meets sultry nightlife under one sexy roof.
The vibe
Plush velvet booths, moody lighting, and a statement stage set the scene indoors – but the party starts in the courtyard. From Wednesdays to Fridays, soak up laidback vibes as live bands take the stage from 7pm to 10pm, dishing out acoustic sets, smooth R&B, and chart-topping hits. Come Friday and Saturday nights, the energy shifts up a gear inside, where rock bands and DJs take over from 10pm till late, fuelling dance floors with hard-hitting beats and bass drops. Whether you're swaying under the stars or going all out indoors, it’s a full-bodied night from start to finish.
The food
Planning to have your fill before the bass drops? The bites here take their cue from both the East and the West, with indulgent small plates perfect for sharing – or not. Think crispy fish skin ($15), smoked duck pizza ($28), and chicken skewers hot off the grill with tzatziki dip ($19).
The drink
Pulse keeps the energy flowing with a creative cocktail list that nods to heritage flavours while turning up the ante. Highlights include the Chinese old fashioned ($25) – a bold remix featuring Maker’s Mark, infused Chinese wine, passionfruit syrup and Peychaud bitters – and the Kao Liang Sour ($25), where the traditional grain spirit gets a luxe twist with Chambord, Dom Benedictine, and lemon. Coffee lovers, meet your match in the Nanyang Coffee, a punchy blend of Patron XO Café, Frangelico, vanilla syrup, and espresso.
Time Out tip
Even your pre-game gets an upgrade – enjoy two hours of free-flow house pours for just $38, every Wednesday and Thursday from 6pm to 8pm.
