The Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Dance Theatre performs an adaptation of The Peony Pavilion by Tang Xianzu, a great poet and playwright of the Ming dynasty. The Chinese dance choroegraphy depicts the tribulations and success of young lovers in the feudalistic society of the country at the time, utilising the traditional format of ‘one table and two chairs’.
