This place fills up quickly during the week with a noisy, exuberant lunch crowd of bankers, secretaries and legal eagles. Reasonably priced set lunches are available; meanwhile, a stern-faced chef behind the counter prepares the pricier sashimi and sushi. The hand-rolls are generously stuffed, and the salmon is gently grilled till the flesh falls off with a gentle prod of the chopsticks. Our favourite offering is the Botan Bento – a huge tray of tempura, sashimi, subtly flavoured braised vegetables, chawanmushi, miso and fruit. A big plus is the brisk service, essential when you’re trying to beat the lunchtime rush.
