Posing direct competition to The Grandstand's reigning king of burgers, Omakase Burger, the two-month old DIO Burger (DIO stands for ‘Do It Ourselves’) is an unpretentious family-style burger joint whose emphasis is on serving fresh patties with meat that has never been frozen. Its relatively simple menu consists of just ten burgers such as the Supreme Wagyu Burger ($20.80), which comes with 170g of Wagyu beef, melted cheddar cheese, grilled Portobello mushrooms, smoked streaky bacon and arugula as well as the King Power Bacon and Mushroom Cheese Burger ($17.80), a thick, messy colossus made up of 170g of grilled chuck beef and Portobellos, melted cheddar cheese and smoked streaky bacon alongside healthier offerings such as its Caesar or Green House Salad (both $9.80). All burgers come with a side of crispy steak fries and freeflow servings of greens. There are free shuttle buses to The Grandstand from Toa Payoh, Newton and Botanic Garden MRT stations.
