Singapore’s love of Italian fare has proved a double-edged sword. While there are many options to choose from, finding a good one without a $$$$ price tag remains a challenge. Enter Donna Carmela, a neighbourhood eatery that is turning heads and whetting appetites. Run by the same Sicilian family who opened Mamma Lucia, the pasta menu is the size of a novella, and you will need a few visits to do it justice. Hard to resist are the parcels of ravioli, dressed a myriad of ways, and wine from the family’s own vineyards in Verona and Sicily, passionately extolled by manager Simone. For favoloso fare that fills the belly but doesn’t drain the wallet, try dinner at Donna’s.
