The interior decoration, haloed with fluorescent light, is decidedly spartan and uninviting, but who cares, because the food here is fantastic. Peranakan owner and chef Helen Sugiano Sim hails from Indonesia and so her menu is overlaid with an additional layer of intense flavour. Everything from the buah keluak to the sambal kangkong and golden, coconut-infused chicken curry is worthy of multiple helpings. Watch out for the layered kueh lapis which is flown in from Sim’s aunt’s kitchen in Indonesia. It’s sinfully good.
