Have your cake-in-a-jar and eat it too at Grin Affair's new Bishan outpost. In addition to its signature trifle-like jarred treats ($6-$6.50), the cosy 20-seater also presents 'meringue' waffles whipped up with an egg white-and-soy milk batter. Crispier than the usual fluffy variety, these waffles are great vehicles for desserts ($7-$8.50) such as the peanut butter waffle sandwich with dark chocolate gelato. While the savoury selection ($6-$7) – think slow-roasted chicken and smoked salmon – may sound uninspired, give it a go anyway for the housemade sauces such as bacon and maple cream, and sambal mayo.
