At La Petite, you queue up to place your order, and most dishes are served in fast-food fashion within 20 minutes of ordering. Don’t expect staff to exchange niceties though; they just don’t have time. Thirsty? Help yourself to the disposable cups at the water dispenser, please. These minor inconveniences are but a small price to pay for the highly affordable rustic French fare served on faded break-proof porcelain. The ambrosia of caramelised foie gras paired with orange confit, the dollops of shelled escargot doused in a rich, tomato-laced sauce and the outstanding desserts of crème brûlée and tarte tartin will make you feel like you’re dining in a five-star joint.
