From the folks at the Minor Food Group, who’s behind current mainstream successes like Poulet, ThaiExpress and Xin Wang Hong Kong Café, comes a new brainchild harking back to Penang’s traditional hawker past. Housed, strangely, within the National University Hospital, Penang Street embraces its rustic inspiration with nostalgia-tinged décor and street favourites like its signature char kway teow ($8.80) laden with prawns and cockles, assam laksa ($8.80) and a host of tze char dishes that don’t break the bank.
