Why does it seem that just about the only way to get good vegetarian these days is to head to Little India? Raj is always a hive of activity, dishing out substantial, well-priced portions of simply done but delicious curries, dosai and rava masalas (semolina crêpes). The idlis (doughy, nutty patties) are particularly good, as are the smoky cubes of paneer aachari draped with a heavy pink shower of raw onions. The ghee rava masala is a giant serving, the crêpe enveloping potato curry and strewn with peppercorns and sautéed onions. Pair it all with a rich, coconut-infused brinjal korma.
Raj was included in our Living on the Veg feature.
