Singapore’s Japanese noodle obsession shows no signs of abating, which is all the better for Ramen Champion’s duelling concept. Its third outlet in the city is a four-ring fight between Tonkotso Itto (who also has a stall at Champion’s Bugis+ outlet), Bishamon Zero (with other outlets in Singapore) and two decorated newcomers – Butaou and Miyamoto from Tokyo – all vying for the Ultimate Ramen Champion Singapore 2013 title. The former serves up sukiyaki-style soup and toppings in its signature Special Sukiyaki Ramen ($16), said to be sweeter than most other ramen broths, while Miyamoto’s Pork and Vegetable ($16) bowl features a lighter double-boiled pork and chicken soup, topped notably with thick, curly noodles.
