Right at the corner of two busy roads, Sum Kee’s homey zhi-char is worth braving the traffic fumes for. We love the har-jeong chicken coated in a crispy batter, and pork strips stir-fried with bitter gourds in a black bean sauce. Sensational too is the fu yu with sweet potato leaves, and the cubes of fried tofu embedded with a thin layer of cereal. Meanwhile, the glistening pork ribs and fried beef noodles never disappoint. The late opening hours are a bonus, especially after a night carousing at nearby clubs and bars. A home delivery service for the River Valley Road area is also available with a minimum order of $20.
Update: Sum Kee has moved from River Valley to Telok Blangah. Check address below.
