This rather nondescript outlet draws a fanatically loyal crowd for its desserts. In the spotlight are the cream puffs – little golden buns lightly dusted with icing sugar whose warm delicate shells break open to molten golden custard. These are made in small batches every hour on the hour, but everything is sold out literally within minutes. If you missed the run, kill time at the side cold box stacked with containers of Japanese-style salads like sweet potato and pumpkin, prawns, broccoli mayonnaise, lotus roots and potato.
Cream puff pastry $2.50 per piece; macha sponge cake $5.80 per piece.
