Occupying a former sewing supplies shop, The Orange Thimble is gorgeous: whitewashed walls, teak floorboards and repro mid-century furniture, along with sofas perfect for sprawling on. Prints and sketches by local artists adorn the walls; there’s even a small courtyard for when evenings are more temperate. The robust, locally roasted coffee, fresh grapefruit or orange juice ($3.50-$7.50) and a selection of pastries sourced from a nearby bakery are satisfying, but for anyone demanding more from the food, close one eye – most items served in the all-day Sunday breakfast are pre-cooked, left to sit and reheated before serving. Opt for the brioche and butter ($2) or a slice of simple chocolate cake ($6.50) to go with your caramel macchiato ($5.50) as you browse the well-stocked pile of lifestyle magazines.
Coffees $4-$7.50
