Billed as a premium dining and entertainment venue, the strangely-named Shavencat is situated along Tanjong Pagar, combining the corner space previously occupied by Pho Stop (now relocated down the road) and club Play. The concept mashes together modern European-influenced fare with Mandopop entertainment, rolling out poutine topped with foie gras and red wine jus ($18), chili con carne with edamame and toast ($16), as well as complimentary soup of the nights to people still standing after downing club standard drinks at 2am. Past 10.30pm daily, the space decidedly takes on a more Chinese-y air, with 14-strong Taiwanese Mandopop and dance act Hot Shock taking the stage with their skills honed at The Sands and Venetian in Macau.
