Pizza pies with a New York state of mind, Tony’s Pizza takes its references from the four-star Yelp-reviewed Elegante Pizzeria from Brooklyn. Run independently here by executive chef Elvin Chew, who learnt the art of tossing pizzas alongside the Elegante’s Tony Varvara in New York, the menu at the corner shophouse space features the easy option of plain cheese pizzas ($6/slice) or 13 different toppings for customisable 18-inch pizzas ($21.50/ half, $42/full), built on thin, pliable crusts. Diners are meant to fold their slices in half to devour them, just like they do in the ‘hood. Aside from the pies, Tony’s Pizza keeps things American with servings of buffalo wings ($9/ten), as well as hero sandwiches (from $11) filled with meatball and eggplant parmagiana, to be washed down with a swig of freshly-made lemonade ($4/glass).
