Of all the yearly occasions you might want to skimp on, you do not want to hold back on Mother’s Day. It’s the day to treat the person who brought you into the world: to buy her loads of flowers, take her out for the day and, of course, luxuriate in a fabulous celebratory meal. But whether it’s brunch, lunch or dinner, where should be taking your mum for a treat on her big day?

Luckily, we’re here to help. We’ve teamed up with Quandoo, an international foodie directory and booking platform, to help you find the best place to take your ma this Mother’s Day.

Quandoo lists over 17,000 restaurants worldwide in its hassle-free, quick and free reservation system. The premise is simple: the more you use Quandoo to dine out and review restaurants, the more loyalty points you receive, and the more cashback you can get on future reservations. Sounds pretty great, huh?

From innovative Indian kitchens and all-guns-blazing steakhouses to pretty food bars and communal abodes, below are ten restaurants to book for an unforgettable Mother’s Day.

Restaurants to book for Mother’s Day

Thanks to its flashy but chic modernist vibes, Pen & Inc is a very swish establishment indeed. And the food is appropriately fancy – here you’ll find some of the most elegant Tex-Mex dishes you’ve ever seen, from picture-perfect burgers to oozing quesadillas.

Don’t miss the beef tenderloin fajitas, which are drenched in gorgeous marinade and served with, among other things, a healthy helping of Monterey jack cheese.

Aiming to recreate a classic Italian osteria with its antique décor and focus on shared food, the iO Italian Osteria really does feel like you’re stepping into a fine italiono eatery. For a communal celebration like Mother’s Day, it’s exactly the right kind of vibe.

Don’t miss the in-house baked bruschetta, with its juicy Sicilian tomatoes and sumptuously peppery basil.

Looking to splurge big this Mother’s Day, not just in the occasion but in the very food itself? Well, this is the place to be. Xperience specialises in magnificent displays of food, from lobster and steak to burgers and pancakes.

Don’t miss the Xperience’s ‘Mother of All Brunches’, a literal tower of meat, fish and veg followed by tons of desserts.

A communal space with opulent design touches and fab ocean views, Kwee Zeen sees an enormous events space collide with ornate decorations. It also has a huge variety of dishes on offer, from pan-Asian and vegetarian to gluten-free – and even has its own ‘foie gras station’. Pretty fancy, eh?

Don’t miss the ‘Mamma Mia Mega Brunch’, obviously. Combining ABBA ambiance (the Swedish quartet’s songs will literally play over the speakers) with Kwee Zeen’s usual enormous menu, it’ll be a total hoot.

For the red-blooded mothers out there, Lawry’s The Prime Rib is here to serve up a proper, hearty meat feast. Its special six-course Mother’s Day menu takes diners from seafood ceviche through to prime rib of beef and indulgent chocolate desserts – with, of course, a couple of palette cleansers along the way.

Don’t miss the prime rib of beef – the Lawry’s signature cut, served with mash potatoes, horseradish and more.

An entire bar dedicated to cool, creamy mozzarella and burrata? Yes, please. Much more than just a novelty establishment, Latteria also dishes up meat, fish and pasta dishes – all with a notably sleek, refined finish.

Don’t miss Latteria’s famed buffalo mozzarella (imported all the way from Italy) with marinated tomatoes. Simple but unbeatable.

Looking to dial down the OTT Mother’s Day fuss but still indulge in some top-notch food? Well, La Pizzaiola on the Teacher’s Estate is the restaurant for you. While the vibe is laid back and understated, here you’ll find some of the finest pizza and pasta dishes around.

Don’t miss the Pizza Vongole, a pizza on a home-made base with deliciously-spiced clam meat.

With pâtés, charcuterie and escargot galore, there are few finer French restaurants to take your maman to this Mother’s Day than L’Angelus. With its charmingly ornate décor and rich variety of dishes, it’s a slice of France in the heart of the CBD.

Don’t miss the pâté grand-mere, which, while technically named after a grandmother rather than a mother, is nevertheless a mouth-wateringly creamy pork and chicken pâté.

Bashing out stylish, contemporary takes on classic Bengali dishes, Aapon is a culinary gem slap-bang in the middle of central Singapore. Drawing inspiration from north and east India, expect delights ranging from a classic chicken tikka to a fun mirchi vada samosa twist. Oh, and this one’s especially great if you’re a vegetarian.

Don’t miss the ‘Mirchi Vada Samosa Twist’, a glorious stuffed pepper filled with spiced potato.

Cooking the perfect steak is a matter of routine for Opus Bar & Grill. This award-winning steakhouse imports only the finest cuts before aging them in a cabinet lined with tiles of Himalayan salt. The results are as succulent as any steak you’ll find, anywhere. If your ma loves steak (or seafood, or burgers), take her here.

Don’t miss the ‘Australian grain-fed Angus hanger steak’, a Mother’s Day special and an Opus speciality.
